The Work

Lori Kaye runs a couture and bridal alterations studio in Cary, and she is good at it. Her website was not saying so. Search was not surfacing her for the terms brides actually type, the pages gave a visitor nothing to do next, and the gowns she was proudest of sat where almost no one saw them.

Strategy

We treated the site as a lead engine rather than a brochure, and we set the measurement up before touching anything, so we would know later what had actually worked. Positioning came first, then photography, because couture has to look like couture. Then a search plan pinned to Cary and Raleigh, where her clients already live. Every key page got one job and one search intent, and every change shipped against a dated baseline.

Solution

Phase one was the site itself: a rebuild on Wix, the copy rewritten page by page, a photo shoot we directed and shot-listed with the retouching and editing done in house, and structured data underneath it. Phase two went after leads. We connected Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, geo-pinned the couture, bridal, and private sewing class pages to Cary and Raleigh, NC, and built a four-tab FAQ out of the questions people were already asking Google. In July 2026 we launched her Google Business Profile as a service-area listing covering Cary, Raleigh, and Apex, a local search channel the studio had never had. Headshots by John Schroeder.

Impact

Site sessions rose 59% year over year, from 79 in August 2025 to 126 in August 2026. As measured in July 2026, organic search had become the top lead source, bringing 45% of inquiries from 37% of traffic, and sessions converted to inquiries at about 6%, above the 2 to 5% benchmark for service sites. Bounce fell from 80% to 48% between February and June 2026. One small fix carries the shape of the whole engagement: after the May 2026 URL correction, the private sewing classes page ran at roughly 3.5 times its earlier daily session rate, an approximate one-year comparison rather than a current rate. The work continues. The next push is making the bridal side of the business as easy to find in local search as the classes already are.

The big idea

Search turned the website into a lead engine.
